J​ason Friedlander, Product & Technology Evangelist, Verizon Digital Media Services: Jason Friedlander is the product & technology evangelist for Verizon Digital Media Services, where his primary objective is to raise the visibility of the company in the industry and to create strong, rewarding relationships with media, partners and industry organizations. Prior to his current role, Friedlander was the director, solutions engineering, media & entertainment, where he managed a global team of solutions engineers. The team works with current and prospective media & entertainment customers to provide ​consultancy services and ​the best business solutions with​in​ the Verizon Digital Media Services product suite. Prior to joining the company, Friedlander co-founded upLynk, an OVP specializing in simplifying broadcaster workflows during the​ir​ transition ​to​ OTT. Verizon Digital Media Services acquired upLynk in 2013. Friedlander is a member of several industry organizations, including: ​SMPTE, ​the Interaction Design Association, the User Experience Professionals' Association ​and ​the Producers Guild of America. He has been the recipient of multiple industry awards, including: the Mobile Excellence Awards Best Mobile Music – Winner, the DEG Creative Excellence Award Winner, the Best in Show Aurora Award Winner and the IRMA Award Winner. Friedlander graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting: marketing and management from Arizona State University​. He also​ obtained​ ​a master’s degree in human-computer interaction from DePaul University​ and a Mini-Masters in user experience from Rutgers University​.

 

.James Field is Product Manager for Infinite Video, Cisco’s cloud hosted and managed platform for delivering live and on demand content to any device.  Prior to this role James was was responsible for business development and communication for the global New Initiatives Research & Development team which became part of Cisco through the NDS acquisition in 2013.  In this role, James lead the company’s partner program with Silicon Valley-based technology companies in pursuit of new technology developments, and is instrumental in delivering convergent solutions for NDS customers worldwide. In addition to this role, James was also responsible for devising and implementing a Green House Gas reduction initiative program from both a products and facilities perspective for NDS worldwide. James has been with in the digital media business for more than 20 years, and brings a particular focus to rich media services for embedded devices, their future and the server side technologies that drive them. Most recently, he served as Director of Solutions for NDS’ Asia Pacific region, and as a secondment Chief Operating Officer in the Beijing office, where he managed the specification and delivery of interactive and Digital TV solutions for the surrounding areas. Prior to joining NDS, James worked at STAR TV as a Technical Engineering Manager. In this role, he worked closely with local satellite and cable redistributors, and coordinated the operation set-up and support of direct-to-home (DTH) satellite networks in Indonesia and India, including Indovision Digital Installation Company, Asia's first digital DTH broadcaster. James spent his early career working as an engineer at Pan Asian Systems, Atlas Wireline Service and Marconi Defense Systems. James earned his Master's and Bachelor’s degrees in electrical and electronic engineering, both from the University of Bath. He has also attended Cranfield University’s School of Management and served as an Officer in the Corps of Royal Engineers in the British Army.

 

Hillary Henderson is Senior Director of Product Strategy and Management at IBM Cloud Video. Hillary builds upon decades of experience in product management to drive innovation and development for the business unit. Responsible for product marketing and management of IBM Cloud Video's streaming video and OTT solutions across mobile, web, and TV-connected devices, Hillary forges partnerships and cultivates relationships with video ecosystem partners to create value, drive revenue, and reduce audience churn for media and entertainment clients. Hillary is a longtime member of the Clearleap team, having been involved with the company’s product development since 2009. Since then, she has worked with strategic content and device partners to enable rich consumer experiences on connected TVs, streaming players and mobile platforms for MVPDs. Hillary leverages her previous experiences in product management at the Weather Channel and COX Digital Media Group to advance IBM Cloud Video’s innovative technology platform.  Hillary received her BA in English and Journalism from the University of Connecticut. IBM Cloud Video provides video streaming solutions that help enterprises open up new revenue streams and enhance communication to a variety of audiences. Jeremy Morrison, Vice President of Solutions Engineering of Deluxe Delivery Services, Deluxe Entertainment Services Group: Morrison provides the technical sales leadership and market development strategy for the company’s unified content delivery solutions and next generation services for multiscreen and OTT applications. Before joining Deluxe, Morrison was Vice President of Technology and Business Development at Vubiquity, where he led sales engineering and product technical teams for the company's cloud-based processing, and distribution platform.  At Globecomm, Morrison was a founding member of the VIdeo Group, focused on bringing new video broadcasting services to Fortune 50 and international programmers. Morrison holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Cardean University in France.  He also completed the Cable Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School.

 

Xavier Kochhar is the CEO of Structured Data Intelligence (SDI), a company whose mission is deeply rooted in the belief that the world's data should be accessible for all to use. The company is behind the Video Genome Project (VGP), which has successfully mapped (catalogued, categorized, analyzed) the hundreds and hundreds of elements (metadata) within 7.5 million+ records of professionally produced video content-film, television shows, and series, and online video. The VGP is the largest, broadest and most granular structured database of video content in the industry. The VGP and the underlying SDI structuring technology have had massive implications not only for video content curation tools (such as search, recommendation, and personalization), but also for developers, publishers, content providers, marketers, and users all over the world who utilize any form of video content. Additionally, SDI's Insights division provides analytical lens tools which it layers on top of its structured databases so that its customers can glean actionable insights relating to video content that are used to drive business decisions. Prior to SDI, Mr. Kochhar was Managing Partner of MediaLink, a strategic advisory firm operating at the intersection of the media, advertising, and technology communities. In this role, he managed and executed upon the strategic planning and business science advisory services for the company and guided clients across of number of practice areas including digital strategy, strategic partnerships, marketing communications, media reviews, organizational management and restructuring, and revenue development. As one of the early executives and part of the original leadership team at MediaLink, Mr. Kochhar helped to build the firm into the media and advertising industry's preeminent strategy and implementation firm. His clients included many top Fortune 100 advertisers, digital media and entertainment companies and publishers, as well as dozens of the fastest growing VC-backed start-ups in both Silicon Valley and Silicon Beach, including many of today's top online video studios and distribution platforms. Mr. Kochhar also worked closely with premium venture capital and private equity firms as they sourced and analyzed deals in the media, ad-tech, and content sectors. Mr. Kochhar joined MediaLink from The Walt Disney Company, where he served as one of three corporate executives within Disney©'s Corporate Alliances group dedicated solely to the procuring and developing of new, mutually value-creating strategic relationships between outside corporations and the myriad assets across all the divisions of The Walt Disney Company. By sitting in Corporate atop Disney, his role had an ability to and necessitated the pulling of resources from the respective divisions within the company Studios, Theme Parks, Consumer Products, and Media Networks (ABC, ESPN, and the various Disney cable assets) in order to work with third-party B-to-B and consumer brand companies in various aspects of strategic and/or tactical relationships. These relationships included marketing, media buys, sponsorships, promotional activity, purchasing, corporate development, joint or integrated content opportunities, or co-branded JVs. Before Disney, Mr. Kochhar was a corporate packaging agent at the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills, the largest and most prestigious talent agency representing the entertainment industry's top creatives and content producers; and a partner for an entertainment marketing company, which extends the brands of top consumer and retail companies into the world of media by identifying and/or generating integrated marketing opportunities based on or around top entertainment properties and franchises. Mr. Kochhar was also a strategy consultant in the Media and Entertainment group for London-based L.E.K. Consulting. He began his professional career in corporate finance, after graduating from U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business, working as investment banker for Tucker Anthony Sutro, where his focus was mergers, acquisitions, and private placements of emerging growth and middle market companies.

 

Jonathan Hurd, Director, Altman Vilandrie & Company: Jonathan has more than 30 years of consulting and industry experience in communications, media and related technology sectors.  Since 2006 he has been a Director at Altman Vilandrie & Company (AV&Co.), a 120-person strategy consulting firm focused on technology, media, and telecom.  Jonathan has recently been leading AV&Co.'s unique proprietary consumer survey and simulation techniques to analyze the impact of "skinny bundles" of TV channels.  He has worked with video distributors on product design and pricing of traditional and "over-the-top" services, and has also been advising broadcast and cable TV networks on product and pricing strategy.  AV&Co.'s recent collaboration with MoffettNathanson was featured in the research note, "The OTT Demand Curve...Threading the Eye of a Needle?," drawing on findings from AV&Co.'s annual consumer video survey which Jonathan leads.  In addition, Jonathan is frequently involved in conducting due diligence projects for potential investors in the TMT space, including areas such as traditional video delivery, internet video delivery, wireless infrastructure, digital advertising, and digital publishing.  Jonathan is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the group charged with investigating and selecting EMMY award recipients for innovative TV technology.  Prior to joining AV&Co., Jonathan was a Vice President with ADVENTIS, a TMT-focused strategy firm, and was a Partner in the Communication, Information and Entertainment practice of Mercer Management Consulting.  Jonathan has also served as Vice President of Marketing for a computer peripherals manufacturer, and held marketing and strategic planning positions at Lotus Development Corporation.  In addition, he has served as a software development product manager in industries including financial services, computer peripherals, and video game development; he designed and created the Atari arcade video game "Food Fight."  Jonathan received a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, where his thesis advisor was Nicholas Negroponte of the Media Lab, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he received First Year Honors.  He is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
