Elizabeth Kiehner, Senior, Global Design Services Manager, IBMiX: Elizabeth Kiehner is a design thinking evangelist who believes in harnessing the power of creative thinking to solve business problems.  By unearthing human insights, Liz co-creates customer-centric experiences that have the power to transform the enterprise. As Senior, Global Design Services Manager of IBMiX, Liz believes in setting people up to succeed, and delivering and executing innovative ideas and experiences.  After eight years of running her own 12-person design boutique, Thornberg & Forester, Liz loves sharing her in-depth knowledge of both traditional and digital media, as well as her large network of talent.  She marries people management expertise with business development acumen.  Liz started her career in advertising at Havas Chicago followed by a brief stint in LA running a fashion retail account.  In New York she’s focused on digital marketing and design for the past 14 years with awards from Promax/BDA, Art Directors Club and Type Directors Club.  In addition to speaking engagements at Cannes, SxSW and CES, Liz can be found doing occasional stand-up routines at Gotham Comedy Club.

 

Jerri Lynn Hogg is a media psychologist, director of the Media Psychology program at Fielding Graduate University, 2015 President of the American Psychological Association’s Society for Media Psychology and Technology, co-creator of Fielding’s Certificate in Brand Psychology and Audience Engagement , and co-author of Mad Men Unzipped. She integrates her passion for branding, augmented/virtual reality, technology, and digital environments with research to advance the understanding of the positive use of media and technologies and their physical, cognitive, and emotional impact. Dr. Hogg is a coveted industry speaker and with over 50 scholarly presentations on media psychology, is a pioneer in the field of Media Psychology.  She recently spent six months working with the U.S. Department of Defense Global Operations on an anti-terrorism simulation using narrative psychology to degrade and counter terrorist messaging in Iraq, Syria, and North Africa. Her current focus is on brand psychology strategies; augmented environment design solutions; and narrative messaging for positive change. Hassan Miah, Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder, has over 25 years of experience in finance, technology and digital media.  Hassan was previously a partner at KPMG and a Managing Director at Intel Capital.  Hassan has a BA from University of Michigan and MBA from Stanford University.  Hassan is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA): Robin8 (robin8.net) operates in China uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology to “read” social posts and profile anyone based on their interests.  This allows anyone to become a KOL and advertisers to find suitable places to share messages based on precision targeting.  In China, we call influencers KOLs (key opinion leaders) and they can be everyone, the top 1% (celebrities, experts, etc.) with 10 million followers as well as the long tail (e.g., your neighbor, your friend, your colleagues, your classmate, you, everyone, etc).  The Company analyzes over 1 million posts a day and has conducted thousands of advertising campaigns on a mobile App with large global brands, local companies and working with the major advertising agencies.

 

Mika Rautiainen, Ph.D., is the founder and chief executive officer of Valossa Labs, the deep content company. Mika has profound experience in computer vision and artificial intelligence (AI) for media content recognition systems and his innovations in AI have been integrated into Valossa’s content analysis engine, as well as the company’s emotion and expression recognition engine. Valossa’s AI platform can analyze videos in real-time to identify thousands of appearing concepts – including places, objects – from any video stream. Based on the latest deep learning techniques, the Valossa AI intelligence engine recognizes people, visual context, speech topics, video categories and other video entities at an unprecedented level of detail revealing higher level intelligence from deep, scene level information. Ultimately, the intelligence of the Valossa AI answers the question, "what are my videos about and how could I benefit from that information?”

 

Mika is a senior research fellow at the University of Oulu, in northern Finland, which has one of the world’s most prestigious computer vision labs. His research background with media technology and systems dates back for the past 20 years. Mika has also worked as a researcher at the University of Maryland and at NEC’s C&C Central Research Labs, in Japan. His research interests are artificial intelligence and machine learning, multimedia information retrieval, computer vision and video content technologies.

 

Sanjay Macwan served as Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, Media Labs, NBCUniversal.  In this role, Macwan lead Media Labs, an industry leading technology incubator and accelerator driving innovation across NBCUniversal’s global businesses, including TV, Films, Digital, and Theme Parks.  His team is also accelerating the culture of innovation within NBCUniversal—introducing a crowd-sourcing ideation platform in which all employees can participate; pioneering media technology hackathons that invite outside developers, designers and entrepreneurs to innovate for our businesses; and engaging with the global technology ecosystem, including startups, the venture capital community, and academic research groups, to keep NBCUniversal ahead of a rapidly changing media technology environment. As CTO, he also leads a company wide patent creation effort with the goal of creating a critical mass of strategic patents for the company.  Macwan is based at the NBCUniversal Technology Center in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Macwan served as Vice President, AT&T Chief Technology Officer and headed the CTO Technology Council, which incubated highly successful programs such as AT&T Foundry, a series of innovation centers that collaborate with global technology start-ups and the VC community; The Innovation Pipeline (TIP), an industry leading innovation platform; and the team that was responsible for strategic analysis of key ecosystems of web, ad/search, communications, social networks, and content. Macwan serves on a Technology Advisory Council of top Silicon Valley VC firm, KPCB, and on the Customer Advisory Board of a NYC startup, Kindling, Inc.  He has also served on the Industry Advisory Board with Ericsson, the advisory boards of the Georgia Tech Information Security Center, National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO), and successful startups such as Arcturus and Mu Dynamics (acquired by Spirent). Macwan holds 29 patents, and has an additional 16 patent applications in process in key areas of multimedia, mobility, location based services, cloud, CDN, information security, and IPTV.
