Sarah Malkin, Vice President, Programming, New Form: Sarah Malkin serves as vice president of programming for entertainment studio New Form. In this newly created role, Malkin oversees the development, production, and distribution of content on New Form-controlled outlets. In the past two years, New Form Digital has seen success selling original content to multiple platforms and will continue to be innovative in its approach to distribution. Malkin joins New Form from Maker Studios where she served in key executive

roles as vice president of programming, general manager of Life+Style, and head of branded entertainment. Her leadership helped usher the company from start-up through hyper growth to eventual acquisition by Disney. Based in Los Angeles, Malkin is a graduate of Pomona College and has a Master of Fine Arts from Boston University.

 

Larry Laboe is President of Production at SXM where he has produced for entertainment companies including Disney, NBC, VEVO, Dailymotion, MTV, Break Media (now DEFY Media), Comedy Central, and Complex Media. These projects have been directed by talent such as James Franco and Joseph Gordon Levitt. In addition to his work at SXM, Larry also serves as Co-Founder and Executive Director of NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA), and is a Faculty Member in the film department at the prestigious San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI).

 

Steven M Brown is Chief Revenue Officer of ViewLift, a leading technology company with a best-in-breed video platform.   He is an industry veteran and first mover in the OTT space with over ten years’ experience working with entertainment and media companies.  In his current role, he is creating OTT strategies with major brands including NBC, Tegna and Monumental Sports Network. Previously, Brown served as Senior Vice President of Platform Sales and Advertising Solutions for NeuLion, a leading Sports Technology Company.  During his tenure, NeuLion experienced unprecedented customer growth.   Brown served as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of SilverCarrot, Inc., a Digital Marketer and Publisher that works with Fortune 500 Brands.  In this leadership role, Brown directed sales and marketing, business development, operations and was responsible for the company's financial performance, which experienced significant growth and profitability under his leadership. Throughout his highly successful career, Brown has also led several high-performance sales and business development teams in leadership roles for industry powerhouses including United Online, IGN/News Corp, and Viacom/CBS Radio.

 

George Woolley is the Head of Originals at Portal A, an award-winning digital studio that develops, produces, and distributes original and branded entertainment. Portal A is independent, with a team of 35 based in its San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. Portal A works closely with top global brands like YouTube, Google, Lenovo, Procter & Gamble, Amazon, NBC Universal, Macy’s, and Universal Pictures, and develops original entertainment for digital platforms with partners such as Disney, Hearst, YouTube, and more. Portal A’s work has been seen nearly a billion times, and the company is best known for the annual YouTube Rewind video (which it has produced since 2011) and for its original show, White Collar Brawler, which began as a digital series and ran for multiple seasons on TV with Esquire. George is responsible for and oversees the creation, development, and sale of premium scripted and non-scripted projects for Portal A. Prior to joining Portal A, George created and developed digital and traditional content for MTV, Yahoo! Originals, and Red Bull Media House, most recently as the VP of Originals for Disney-owned Maker Studios. George grew up in Berkeley, CA, and is an alumnus of University of California, Los Angeles.

 

David Tochterman, CEO, Canvas Media Studios.  David co-founded Canvas with Emmy Award winning digital creator Bernie Su, with venture financing from Third Wave Partners, MNM Creative, and a strategic investment and partnership with Entertainment One.  David is also a partner in Pemberley Digital, a YouTube channel and media company which produces videoblog adaptations of classic literature, including two Emmy Award-winning interactive web series, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Emma Approved. David was an early digital media pioneer, launching the groundbreaking interactive branded video website ChannelBlast. Prior to co-founding Canvas, David was a digital strategy consultant for ABC Digital, PBS Digital Studios, Starz Digital, and founded Innovative Artists Digital Media, one of the first talent agency digital divisions.  In television, David was Executive Vice President of Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment and Senior Vice President of the Carsey Werner Company, where he played an integral role in hit shows including That 70's Show, 3rd Rock From the Sun, and was an Executive Producer of Grace Under Fire.

In 2015 Masterson and Believe Entertainment Group announced the launch of a new studio division developing and producing digital-first original series for OTT and digital distribution partners including Maker Studios, Mashable, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Time Inc., New York Post, and Haven Home Media, a division of Reader's Digest Association. The studio division also develops and produces premium branded entertainment programs exclusively for individual brands, including the original animated series with Marriott International, “Hot Shoppe.” Earlier projects include a lifestyle and entertainment news series with Jennifer Lopez and Nuyorican Productions, TBE, distributed through and in partnership with AOL (cambio.com/tbe); an alliance with Paramount Digital Entertainment (PDE) working together on the hit digital series The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers (The LXD), created by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2: The Streets and Step Up 3D) and distributed through Hulu; and an expanded partnership with MommyCast, the Webby Award winning multi-medium show for moms. The studio is known for its trailblazing 2011 launch of The LeBrons with LeBron James and brand partners HP, Intel, Bing, Sprite and Nike, that premiered on YouTube (youtube.com/TheLeBrons) and was distributed through LeBron’s Facebook, Twitter, and a dedicated section of LeBronJames.com. Masterson brings more than 18 years of experience in media and interactive advertising to drive the company’s sales and revenue initiatives. Xavier Kochhar is the CEO of Structured Data Intelligence (SDI), a company whose mission is deeply rooted in the belief that the world's data should be accessible for all to use. The company is behind the Video Genome Project (VGP), which has successfully mapped (catalogued, categorized, analyzed) the hundreds and hundreds of elements (metadata) within 7.5 million+ records of professionally produced video content-film, television shows, and series, and online video. The VGP is the largest, broadest and most granular structured database of video content in the industry. The VGP and the underlying SDI structuring technology have had massive implications not only for video content curation tools (such as search, recommendation, and personalization), but also for developers, publishers, content providers, marketers, and users all over the world who utilize any form of video content. Additionally, SDI's Insights division provides analytical lens tools which it layers on top of its structured databases so that its customers can glean actionable insights relating to video content that are used to drive business decisions. Prior to SDI, Mr. Kochhar was Managing Partner of MediaLink, a strategic advisory firm operating at the intersection of the media, advertising, and technology communities. In this role, he managed and executed upon the strategic planning and business science advisory services for the company and guided clients across of number of practice areas including digital strategy, strategic partnerships, marketing communications, media reviews, organizational management and restructuring, and revenue development. As one of the early executives and part of the original leadership team at MediaLink, Mr. Kochhar helped to build the firm into the media and advertising industry's preeminent strategy and implementation firm. His clients included many top Fortune 100 advertisers, digital media and entertainment companies and publishers, as well as dozens of the fastest growing VC-backed start-ups in both Silicon Valley and Silicon Beach, including many of today's top online video studios and distribution platforms. Mr. Kochhar also worked closely with premium venture capital and private equity firms as they sourced and analyzed deals in the media, ad-tech, and content sectors. Mr. Kochhar joined MediaLink from The Walt Disney Company, where he served as one of three corporate executives within Disney©'s Corporate Alliances group dedicated solely to the procuring and developing of new, mutually value-creating strategic relationships between outside corporations and the myriad assets across all the divisions of The Walt Disney Company. By sitting in Corporate atop Disney, his role had an ability to and necessitated the pulling of resources from the respective divisions within the company Studios, Theme Parks, Consumer Products, and Media Networks (ABC, ESPN, and the various Disney cable assets) in order to work with third-party B-to-B and consumer brand companies in various aspects of strategic and/or tactical relationships. These relationships included marketing, media buys, sponsorships, promotional activity, purchasing, corporate development, joint or integrated content opportunities, or co-branded JVs. Before Disney, Mr. Kochhar was a corporate packaging agent at the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills, the largest and most prestigious talent agency representing the entertainment industry's top creatives and content producers; and a partner for an entertainment marketing company, which extends the brands of top consumer and retail companies into the world of media by identifying and/or generating integrated marketing opportunities based on or around top entertainment properties and franchises. Mr. Kochhar was also a strategy consultant in the Media and Entertainment group for London-based L.E.K. Consulting. He began his professional career in corporate finance, after graduating from U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business, working as investment banker for Tucker Anthony Sutro, where his focus was mergers, acquisitions, and private placements of emerging growth and middle market companies.

He produced the first ever sports technology conference, eSportsWorld, and is sought after for his distinctive conference moderating skills. Steve’s corporate experience includes tenures at MGM Worldwide Television and Universal (MCA) TV. He is also an Adjunct Professor for both the Syracuse University and Boston University semester programs in Los Angeles as well as a board member of the Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship in the Newhouse School at Syracuse University.
