Neil Deiter, Business Development Manger, Service Provider Video, Cisco Systems: Neil Deiter is an innovative media and technology executive with cutting-edge experience in content from creation to delivery.   Neil has written and produced hundreds of hours of television, including prime-time scripted, reality and documentary programs; has led operations for a startup television

network delivered into over 45 million homes; and has helped found an enterprise startup from idea to its acquisition by McAfee. At Cisco, Neil helps drive strategy and business execution with leading studios, content providers and distributors by leveraging the power of Cisco solutions to more efficiently deliver amazing customer experiences.  Neil represents the entire Cisco Video portfolio, which includes best-in-class products for every part of the delivery workflow, from satellite uplink to mobile app. His team has a special focus on Cisco Infinite Video, a cloud based SaaS offering that is leading the transition to IP and OTT services. Prior to joining Cisco in 2016, Neil worked at companies including Warner Bros, NBC, Fox Sports and Citrix, and for executive producers of shows including Will and Grace and The Office.  Neil Deiter holds a bachelor of science degree in economics from UCLA and is Managing Partner of Kenosha LLC, a project focused on introducing more people to aviation.

 

Hillary Henderson is Senior Director of Product Strategy and Management at IBM Cloud Video. She builds upon her extensive experience in product management to drive innovation and development for the business unit. In this role, Hillary forges partnerships and cultivates relationships with video ecosystem partners to create value, drive revenue, and reduce audience churn for media and entertainment clients. Prior to its acquisition by IBM in 2015, Hillary was a longtime member of the Clearleap team, having been involved with the company’s product development since 2009. Since then, she has worked with strategic content and device partners to enable rich consumer experiences on connected TVs, streaming players and mobile platforms for MVPDs. Hillary leverages her previous experiences in product management at the Weather Channel and COX Digital Media Group to advance IBM Cloud Video’s innovative technology platform. Hillary received her BA in English and Journalism from the University of Connecticut.

 

Rick Capstraw is the director media & entertainment sales for Verizon Digital Media Services, where he leads the North American media & entertainment sales team. Prior to his current role, Capstraw worked at Verizon in several areas including media, entertainment & technology, and strategy & enterprise development. He has also held management positions at CNET Networks, The Walt Disney Company and Ticketmaster. Capstraw graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California. He also obtained a post graduate diploma in economics from the School Of Oriental & African Studies, University Of London.

 

Shahruz Shaukat, EVP of Creative Technology, Super Deluxe: At only 26, Shahruz Shaukat has become a rising digital architect of next-gen entertainment, capturing the eyeballs of elusive young audiences as EVP of Creative Technology at Super Deluxe, an omni-platform entertainment brand under the Turner umbrella. Shahruz specializes in creating unexpected experiences that are interactive, immersive, and rooted in comedy. His bot for Facebook Messenger, Dankland, automatically turns user-submitted selfies into memes with acerbic and comedic captions; it’s no wonder why it went viral over the holidays when kids were on school break. And his tech games, such as Punch-A-Nazi and Drop Drake, are as addictive as they are timely. Shahruz also developed proprietary technology that enables viewers to interact with Super Deluxe’s programming on Facebook Live in real time. During Super Deluxe’s Live Telenovelas, for example, viewers can decide major points in real time. During our gross-out cooking shows, the audience decides the ingredients. Shahruz also has an eye for emerging and unconventional talent and he takes an active role in recruiting new voices for Super Deluxe. Prior to co-founding Super Deluxe, Shahruz spent about two years at BuzzFeed, first as a developer, then product lead, helping to grow the company’s prominence.  He also tackled a number of side projects during this time, developing Sketch Toolbox, a simple plug-in manager for the Sketch app, as well as the popular Seinfeld Emoji app for the cult Twitter account Seinfeld2000.  Previously, in 2011, Shaukat co-founded the Los Angeles web design agency Fountain, whose projects included the podcast streaming platform Podbay and the digital publishing platform Periodical. Shaukat began his career as director of technology, and the first employee, at the Los Angeles comedy podcasting network Earwolf.  Guiding its distribution strategy, he was integral in the development and rollout of nearly 20 top-ranked shows, including “Comedy Bang! Bang!” and “How Did This Get Made?”  He began with Earwolf while still earning twin degrees in Computer Science and Communications from the University of California, Davis, where he graduated in 2010.
