Michael Shane, Managing Partner, The Handpicked Company: Shane has worked with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Leonardo Di Caprio, Tom Hanks, and Will Smith and continues to work with world-class talent on his projects at various stages of development and production. Michel Shane is one of the motion picture industry’s premier independent producers. He is managing partner of The Handpicked Company based out of Los Angeles & Montreal and has produced films in Canada, USA, India, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, and South America. A graduate of Canada’s McGill University, Michel Shane attended law school for two years before deciding on a career in the entertainment

business. The latest project is the adaption of the highly successful and popular children’s book The Tale of Emily Windsnap. Academy Award-winning director Robert Stromberg is attached to direct. The property was optioned by Michel’s brother, Reid and they have joined forces to adapt the six book series into a film franchise, which tells the story of a girl that discovers she is part mermaid. Shane has forged an unusual collaborative alliance to produce an epic television series based on The Art of War by Sun Tzu. This will be the first time The Art of War has ever been done in the West as a film or TV series. Filming in historical locations throughout China and other locations. Attaching the world's leading directors to shot episodes of the epic series is in the works. Universal Television is handling International Distribution. "CATCH ME IF YOU CAN" and "I. ROBOT" went on to gross nearly one billion dollars in revenue. Both films were based on material fully developed by Shane. Other producing credits include Paramount Classic’s "NORTHFORK", which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival starring James Woods, Nick Nolte, Peter Coyote and Daryl Hannah. Film critic’s Siskel and Ebert called “One of the most important American films made in the last ten years.” In September of 2007 Hand Picked Films was engaged by Ginepri Capital - a Wall Street hedge fund - to consult on the on a $150m production fund and to oversee the financing of multiple slates of films for a five-year term. For the last four years, Shane has worked with Indian Billionaire Dr. B.K. Modi, to help produce and bring to life the story of Buddha based on a screenplay written by Academy Award Winner David Ward. Shane worked closely with Ward to develop the screenplay. Michel Shane developed a television series for Lionsgate based on a book by T Jefferson Parker entitled “LA OUTLAWS.” Shane has joined forces with Carl and Jesse Franklin to develop the series. Shane is also developing a television series optioned by Sony based on a property they control entitled “STRONG ENOUGH TO DIE” written by mystery/thriller Jon Land. This is a series of 5 books and counting. Handpicked films and Wolper production have successfully produced a reality series on Tru-TV entitled “BAIT CAR” with 100 episodes produced. The show was consistently one of Tru-TV’s high rated show Shane taught film finance and production at UCLA Extension and was also on UCLA’S Extension program Advisory Board. He is a frequent moderator and guest lecturer on how to use incentives to help produce films and has held seminars for Wall Street Investment firms to give them a better understanding of film financing. Since 2011, Michel Shane is the chair of The Emily Shane Foundation a 501 (C) 3 charity that provide intensive, individualized mentoring to struggling/failing middle school students who could not otherwise afford the support. The only “cost” to each student is that they must perform a good deed for every mentoring/tutoring session they receive, and it must be posted on the website Michel Shane has been invited to Brazil, Canada, China, Great Britain, India, Italy, Singapore and numerous American States to discuss film finance structuring. He is recognized as an expert in the field


Susan Soares, Founder, JUSTCare, Green Oasis: Susan has been an entrepreneur all of her adult life. She had a clothing company for 10 years, Weeds & Doilies, opened a hair salon in Newport Beach, produced a feature film, created an alternative content program with a national theatre chain and currently is the Executive Director of C.A.R.E. (Cannabis Advocasy, Rallies & Events). As a serial entrepreneur, she has worn many hats including expertise in digital media, marketing, social media, start ups, advertising, business development, public policy, market research, film production and cannabis cultivation. Her annual conference, The State of Cannabis is an important policy summit that brings together cannabis business leaders, investors, regulators and elected officials to create conscious and sustainable solutions for the new industry. She is currently planning her 4th annual artist gifting house during Coachella.


Shanan Sabin, Partner & CoFounder, Right Side Consulting Group: Shanan is currently a founding partner in Right Side Consulting Group,  a respected consulting firm specifically focused on operations, sales, and marketing in the cannabis industry. Shanan derives his unique perspective from 15 years of experience across multiple industries & the military. In addition to his career with companies like Procter & Gamble, Google, & The PGA TOUR, Shanan served as an officer in the US Army. Shanan has won multiple awards throughout his career, most notably 3 Gold Effie Awards for leading the Old Spice “Smell Like a Man, Man” campaign.


Dean Arbit, President, TRUmedia: Dean has been a trailblazer in Cannabis media, helping found Smell the Truth on SFGate in 2011, where he currently serves as Publisher.  In 2015, Dean entered the cannabis B2B event space, conceptualizing and co-founded New West Summit, selling his interest the following year to focus on his current role as Producer of the International Cannabis Business Conference.  Prior to entering the cannabis space in 2011, Dean served as CEO of West Coast Outdoor Media Inc., which he founded 1998, and he help build into one of the largest independent outdoor advertising companies in the Western U.S., with clients such as Apple, NIKE, and Bank of America. New York-based private equity firm Flexis Capital acquired West Coast Outdoor Media in January of 2011. Dean studied Economics and International Finance at San Francisco State University.


Caroline Rustigian Bruderer is the founder of K-Line & Company, a national public relations, branding and social marketing consultancy, as well as is a seasoned media producer serving the cannabis, entertainment, technology, lifestyle, and non-profit/social cause arenas. Caroline is also the co-founder of Simplegenetix, Inc., a cannabis technology start-up bringing genetic lab testing directly into the hands of the grower. For nearly 25 years, she has offered brand development, product positioning and media awareness by leveraging the benefits of both traditional and digital media channels. She provides clients a potent combination of influencer connectivity, creative thinking and top-tier media relationships that allow her to identify and target how to best build upon, capitalize, and promote a brand’s image to the public. A sample of the cannabis–industry companies she has represented include: Oaksterdam University, Hoban Law Group, Quigley’s, Harvest Dispensary, MyDx, New West Summit and the 420 Games. Outside the cannabis industry, she has represented some of America’s top brands including Capitol Records, Clinique/Estee Lauder Companies, Discover Los Angeles Tourism Board,, Lilith Fair, Seagram & Sons, Tower Records and Virgin Records. Caroline is deeply passionate about social causes and assists organizations in developing corporate responsibility programs. She is also the creator and host of Caroline’s Cause Corner, a popular weekly social cause radio program on KX 93.5FM radio station in Laguna Beach, California. Her show features social causes, non-profits, charities, activists and philanthropists that contribute to social change throughout the community and on a global level. She has three sons and is a devotee of live music and great food especially in the company of great friends.


Joshua Otten, Founder PRØHBTD Media: For nearly 20 years, Joshua Otten has developed, sold, distributed, produced and directed original content across broadcast, theatrical, OTT and digital media networks. As an entrepreneur himself, Otten enjoys working with emerging talent and storytellers and creating evergreen content and formats for cross-platform distribution. For the past 10 years, he worked with major brands creating, producing and distributing original branded content across a multitude of verticals. In 2015, Otten co-founded PRØHBTD, the premier online destination for modern cannabis enthusiasts, which showcases art, music, fashion, travel, gastronomy, lifestyle, pop culture and original video content. The PRØHBTD audience represents savvy, millennial-aged consumers who enjoy accessing entertaining content, learning about the latest gear and engaging with like-minded individuals. Otten heads the entire content department producing original youth-driven video and editorial from conception to final product. Co-founded the No. 1 video production and content marketing company in the cannabis industry • Co-founded a successful digital marketing, content and technology agency working with top brands like Microsoft, Kia, Universal, Sol Republic, Purity Vodka and Level 99, among others. • Produced unscripted series and documentaries for FOX, CBS, Spike, Discovery, IFC and First Look. • Ran a film production and development company working with directors Joel Schumacher and Morgan Spurlock and discovering/producing Academy Award winners Dan Lindsay & TJ Martin. • Consulted major Southeast Asian media conglomerates on content acquisition and IP development for multi-country OTT media networks. • Started his career at UTA and moved to Industry Entertainment focused on scripted TV development and moved into unscripted and documentaries.
