Mike Goslin, Vice President, Advanced Development, Disney: Mr. Goslin has more than 12 years of experience. He served as Vice President of Virtual Reality Studio at Disney Interactive Media Group (alos known as Walt Disney Internet Group) until March 2009. He joined the VR Studio in 1996, when it was part of Walt Disney Imagineering, to work on virtual reality attractions for theme parks. He was technical lead on a series of projects that were developed for DisneyQuest; a chain of 'super arcades' featuring Virtual Reality rides and games such as 'Alladin's Magic Carpet VR Adventure' and 'Hercules in the

Underworld' which opened in 1998, and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold'. Mr. Goslin was a researcher for The Institute for Simulation and Training in Orlando, Florida. He received numerous awards and accolades including the 2005 WiredKids Safe Gaming Award, 2005 Webby Awards “Webby Worthy Selection,“ 2004 Game Industry News Family Game of the Year, 2003 Computer Gaming World MMORPG of the Year, 2003 Webby Awards People's Voice Award, The New York Times Top 10 Games of the Year 2003, and 2002 Outstanding Attraction from the Themed Entertainment Association. Mr. Goslin holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Duke University and a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

 

Ben Taft is the Co-Founder and CEO of Mira– an LA-based startup designing an accessible augmented reality platform with a mission to enhance the way we interact with technology and each other. In July, Mira announced the Prism, their premium and low cost smartphone powered AR headset. Prior to starting Mira, Taft worked for DAQRI's Business Development team where he planned market segmentation strategies for their advanced Smart Helmet. Taft is one of thirty students in the inaugural class of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre’s Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation at the University of Southern California. As the son of two Russian immigrants, Taft was entrepreneurial from an early age, founding and selling a music discovery platform by the time he was 17.

 

Debby Ruth, Senior Vice Presidents, Global Media and Entertainment, Magid: Debby Ruth is a leader in the Global Media & Entertainment practice at Magid, a world-class research-driven consulting firm. She delves into the rapidly-changing media landscape where the powerful waters of technology and media intersect and create disruption, helping clients define business strategy, develop new products and content, and redefine and reenergize brands in the midst of chaos. Debby is an innovation agent with core strategy and marketing chops with specific expertise in entertainment, media, and advertising sales. She has a proven track record of increasing revenue and performance, and solving business challenges through a proactive balance of research, analysis and action. She brings this perspective and her extensive experience in both B2C and B2B marketing to client engagements. Recently Debby identified the need for the consumer POV in the swirl of industry excitement around virtual and augmented reality. She conceived of and leads Magid’s VR/AR Insights Consortium, a member-funded large-scale examination of the consumer perspective of VR and AR, helping major media and brand clients craft strategy in these emerging areas through fact-based insights. Prior to Magid, Debby was a thought leader in the cable television industry spanning distribution, content, technology, and advertising sales, leading marketing at Cox Enterprises as well as positions at Time Warner Cable and Starz/Encore. Her early career included work in the music industry, at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and in advertising. She earned a BA in Communications from Pennsylvania State University, and an Executive MBA from The Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. Debby was an early innovator in advanced advertising techniques and developed break-through advertising approaches in cable television in her time with Cox Media. She also initiated innovative research, with Magid, on consumer receptivity to and recall of on demand advertising and a comprehensive view of media consumption in the Millennial generation. A long-time TED conference attendee, ideation and problem solving are hobbies as well as a profession.

 

CHUCK PEIL, HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS, Reel FXAs a founding member of Reel FX, Peil has participated in the studios significant growth over the past 22 years which now employs 315 team members in their 75,000 square foot Dallas and 17,000 square foot Santa Monica studios. Reel FX is currently working a full roster of upcoming animated theatrical films: Scooby-Doo directed by Tony Cervone and produced by Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Allison Abbate for Warner Animation Group (slated for a September 18, 2018 release); Wish Police directed by Headless (Adrian Garcia, Alfredo Torres, Victor Maldonado) and produced by Kirk Bodyfelt; as well as a multi-picture deal with director Jorge Gutierrez, including the Untitled Kung-Fu Space Western. Most recently Peil was attached as Executive Producer on The Book of Life, from Reel FX and 20th Century Fox, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez and produced by Guillermo Del Toro and Brad Booker. The film has been nominated for: The Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, Visual Effects Society Awards, Producers Guild of America Awards, Imagen Awards, five Annie Awards and won Best Character Design for the Annie Awards. Peil is a respected leader and innovator in the entertainment space with over 50 projects to his credit in the theatrical, location based and VR space. Charlie Fink, Contributor, Forbes: Charlie Fink is a VR and tech consultant, and former Disney, AOL, and AG Interactive executive. In the ‘90s, Fink was EVP & COO of VR pioneer Virtual World Entertainment and is now a frequent speaker at conferences like CES, AWE, ARinAction, VR Toronto and Digital Hollywood. Fink is a regular contributor to Forbes, HuffPost, and VR Voice, where he writes about AR, VR, and New Media. He is the author of VR/AR 101, Evolution & Revolution, which is due from Cool Blue Press in January 2018.
